- WinRec
- ------
-
- Please read the README file first!
-
- Direct to disk recording is not an easy task for every hard disk sometimes.
- For an error free recording at 50KHz 16Bit stereo, the disk should not have
- a data transfer rate lower than 400 KB/sec.
-
-
- A few short instructions:
-
- - DSP Effect:
- During record and/or play the audio signal may be put through the DSP to
- achieve real time sound effects. Some effects are included.
-
- - DSP Parameter:
- If a PAR-File exists with the same name as the LOD-File, the sound effect
- can be modified via sliders (see DSPEFF.TXT).
-
- - DVS Packing
- The sample can be packed in realtime during recording and can be unpacked
- during playing. The pack rate is 50% and the loss of sound quality is VERY
- small.
- Our algorithm is clearly better than the mu-Law algorithm of some other
- programs.
- As the DSP is not yet doing this task, the highest sampling rate should
- only be used with fast hard disks in this case.
-
- - 'System Task':
- After selecting this option, you can use other programms and all opened
- windows of WinRec while playing/recording. Don't steal too much CPU
- time or WinRec starts stuttering. But perhaps in the near future faster
- FALCONs will be available :-)
-
- - Record:
- After selecting REC a blinking pause key appears. After pressing it, the
- recording starts.
-
- - Mix:
- The signal of the audio input is mixed to the audio signal that WinRec
- creates. Nice for doing Karaoke with a microphone.
-
- - Other sound formats:
- For converting DVSM or AVR into other commonly used sound formats, you can
- use the programs FORTUNE or 525, that should be available at the same
- location as WinRec.
